About this tour
Elephants Retirement 9 Dee is a camp on an old tin mine in the foothills of Cherngtalay. The sunset programme runs from 15:00 to about 18:30: an introduction to the elephants' history, preparing their food, herbal treatments and vitamin balls, feeding in small groups, time to photograph and, if you like, the mud spa and bathing, then a sunset BBQ with traditional Thai dishes and seasonal fruit on the hill top. Transfer from most of the island, photographs, insurance, an English-speaking guide and a T-shirt are included; a ฿200 per person supplement applies from Mai Khao, Ao Por, Paklok, Yamu, Rawai, Nai Harn and Panwa, waived for groups of four. A half-day morning programme is ฿2,600 and a 90-minute feeding visit ฿2,000. Operated with The Crystal Tour, a licensed Phuket travel agent since 1992.
